Joyce Gould (Hinchliffe) Preston, 85, residing with her son Alan and his wife Eileen in Bayville, NJ, passed away on Sept. 22, 2014. Joyce was born in Worcester, Mass., on June 5, 1929, to T. Earl and Ethel Hinchcliffe.
Joyce was a graduate of Westbrook Jr. College, and co-owned and operated a motel in Glen Cove, Maine, for many years and worked in the hotel industry in Brunswick, Maine. At various times, Joyce resided in Brunswick, Glen Cove, and Wolf ’s Neck, Maine.
Joyce loved the Maine coast and spent as much time on the beach as she could. She was an avid needle worker, loved antiques and animals.
Joyce is survived by her son Alan R. Harpell and daughter Amy Carr Preston and their respective families, as well as her beloved cat Sassy.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents and sister Shirley Sweet and her brother in-law Hubbard Sweet.
Joyce’s life will be celebrated by a small memorial service.
