She grew up in Summit, NJ, and after marrying Frank Campagna, also of Summit, NJ, they moved to Greenwich, Conn., raising children Tina, Mark and Peter Campagna. After summering in Harpswell for 62 years, she and her husband retired to Bethel Point in Cundy’s Harbor and resided there for 27 years.
Her love of design and color kept Pegita busy with artistic hobbies including oil painting, decoupage, interior design, tole painting and quilting. She was well known in the Northeast for creating designs that were different from what was normally associated with quilting. Her work was created entirely by hand. Pegita enjoyed commission work, knowing her work would serve as family heirlooms for her customers. Her work was also shown in numerous art shows and exhibitions. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Tim and Frederic “Buz” Rowe.
Survivors include her husband Frank T. Campagna of Topsham, two sons, Mark Campagna of Longwood, FL, Peter Campagna of Chalfont, PA, and a daughter Tina Weeks of Jefferson, ME.
A graveside service was held Oct. 7, 2014, at the Cranberry Horn Cemetery in Harpswell, ME. Pegita’s immediate family was in attendance.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Brackett Funeral Home in Brunswick.
