SANFORD — Lucille R. Houle, 85, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 at the Newton Center with her family by her side.

She was born in St. Norbert, Quebec, Canada on Sept. 12, 1929, a daughter of the late Ludger and Diana (Camire) Plamondon.

For many years, she worked alongside her husband, Lucien at their family store, Houle’s Package Store on Cottage Street in Sanford. After Lucien suffered a stroke, she became his primary caregiver for many years. A devout and faithful Catholic, she was a lifelong member of Holy Family Parish.

She was preceded in death by: her husband of 63 years, Lucien J. “Little Joe” Houle, who passed away in 2010.

She is survived by: her children, Carlene Lacroix and her husband Leo of Lebanon, Rene Houle and his wife, Alice of Sanford, Michael Houle and his wife, Linda of Sanford, and David Houle and his wife, Denise of Sanford; one brother, Andre Plamondon of Canada; sisters, Giselle Lecours of Canada and Rachel St. Pierre of Canada; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford, where family will greet relatives and friends beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.
