NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. — The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth dominated the lower half of the ladder Friday to take a 6- 3 victory over the University of Southern Maine in a Little East Conference women’s tennis match Friday afternoon at the UMD Tennis Courts.
The win improved the Corsairs record to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in the conference. The loss was the fifth straight for the Huskies, who fell to 3-11 overall and 1-6 in LEC play.
Sarah Hill picked up two points for USM. The Topsham native and former Mt. Ararat High School standout teamed with Molly Gallagher for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.
Hill added a singles win, downing UMass-Dartmouth’s Maggie LeBrun, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.
On Saturday, Hill and the Huskies dropped a 7-1 LEC decision to Bridgewater State University.
Hill and Gallagher dropped an 8-6 decision at No. 1 doubles.
In singles, Hill and Bridgewater’s Alison Vautrin battled through three tiebreakers. Vautrin came out on top, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), 10-6.
