I have been reading up on the candidates and find that Emily Cain is not a true Mainer. Born in Kentucky, raised in Illinois, graduated high school in New Jersey. Moved to Orono and lived with relatives while attending UMO, then went to Harvard. Not a political major, but music education. She is now working on her Ph.D. in Public Policy. When she attacks Bruce Poliquin on his so-called tax evasion, did she check with Phippsburg tax assessor? I also checked her voting record and it is as the television ads report. Against raising the minimum wage, wants to allow inmates the right to vote, wants to continue tax breaks for the rich, wants to have us relying on foreign oil, etc. You get the gist of this, I hope. I am not a Republican, nor a Democrat, I just vote my conscience and hope you readers do the same. We do not need Emily Cain in Washington, unless we want more of the same gridlock.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
