Resident of Kennebunk’s Atria Senior Living, artist and native of Galway, Ireland, Val McGann, seen at left, recently created an oil painting which he titled “Hommage to Vermeer.” The painting was chosen to be nationally recognized from out of 900 entries by a panel of art judges for Atria Senior Living’s national art exhibit, “Eyes of the Wise.” The painting will be featured in a traveling art exhibit throughout the United States along with 29 Atria resident art pieces that were selected across the country. The Eyes of the Wise exhibition is dedicated to celebrating the artistic vision of those rich in experience and to giving others the opportunity to see art, pleasure, pain, joy and beauty from a perspective that takes a lifetime to gain. The late John Mott, a former resident of Atria Kennebunk, whose acrylic painting (seen above right) is entitled “Bush Estate,” and was also recognized by the paneling team. His painting will also travel in the exhibit this year in his memory.
