SEBASCO — Arthur S. Pierce Sr., 90, of Black Landing Road, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at Mid Coast Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born in Bath on Jan. 26, 1924, a son of Bertrand T. and Lillian B. Jones Pierce. He was educated in the Bath schools, graduating from Morse High School.

Arthur served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On Sept. 4, 1947, he married Alfreda L. Alexander and they made their home in Sebasco.

He worked at Torrey Roller Bushing for several years before working at Gibbons Oil Company for many years as an oil burner technician.

Arthur enjoyed swimming, motorcycles, model airplanes, and reading, but his real passions were his family, church and boating.

He was a member of the Sebasco Nazarene Church.

Arthur is predeceased by his parents; his wife, Alfreda, who died on March 3, 2010; and his brother, Harvey Pierce.

Surviving are two sons, Arthur S. Pierce Jr. and his wife Eneeda of Brunswick, and Ardenne F. Pierce and his wife Deborah of Phippsburg; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hour will be 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Wally Staples officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath.
