BRUNSWICK — Stephanie Ann Bower of Brunswick, Maine, passed away on Nov. 4, 2014, after a brief illness, surrounded by her children.

Born in Bar Harbor, Maine, on Dec. 20, 1941, to parents Gordon and Priscilla Lewis, Stephanie graduated from Wiscasset High School. She led a very colorful life and held various jobs to support her family, including apartment manager, mechanic and prep cook. Stephanie was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 21 Women’s Auxiliary, and served as chaplain during part of her membership. Stephanie enjoyed all animals, but had a special affinity for Siamese cats, having owned several throughout her life.

Stephanie enjoyed the ocean, and in her later years, spending time with best friends Barbara Ann Dickinson and Donna Shaleuhy, yard saleing and looking for bargains at The Goodwill and “Sally”vation Army stores.

Stephanie leaves behind a husband, George Bower of Brunswick. Siblings Terry Lewis of Bath, Pam Lewis of Bath, Michael Lewis of Portland, Jimmy Lewis and wife Donna of North Carolina, and Allen Lewis and wife Lucy of Florida.

She will be sadly missed by her four children. Her son Mark Maxheimer of Auburn, daughters Doreen Locke and husband Bill of Lewiston, Joyce Ramsey of Lewiston, and Kim Glidden and husband Gary of West Bath. Grandchildren Rhiannon Maxheimer, Joey Locke, Josh Locke, Sommer Toutain and husband Adam, Michelle Ramsay, Jack Ramsay, Colbey Glidden, and Hayley Glidden. Stephanie leaves behind nine great-grandchildren. Also two nieces Suzi and Stephanie, and nephews Brian and Matthew.

At Stephanie’s request, there will be no formal services. A celebration of her life is planned by her four children in a private ceremony next summer. If anyone wishes to honor Stephanie’s memory, donations can be made to the Brunswick Coastal Humane Society.
