BATH — Albert F. “Jim” Austin Jr., 104, of Sheridan Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at HillHouse Assisted Living facility in Bath.

He was born June 9, 1910, in Redlands, Calif., to Albert F. Austin and Katherine Sherrard Harris. His parents were Bath residents who were visiting family in California at the time of his birth.

He was a 1929 graduate of Morse High School and had been a member of the Winter Street Congregational Church. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II and was later employed at Bath Iron Works. He had been a summer resident of Worthley Pond in East Peru, Maine, for 80 years.

Jim married Olive R. Johnson in 1937, Elsie L. Trott in 1961 and Elizabeth Hawkes Pratt in 1973. All three wives predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Barbara A. Kavanagh and Margaret A. Elliott.

He is survived by his daughter, Katherine Austin Higgins and her husband Bill of Bath, granddaughters, Abigail P. Silva and her husband Michael T. Silva of Brookfield, Conn., and Caroline E. “Beth” Silva and her husband Sergio A. Silva of Naugatuck, Conn., one great-grandson, Elliot Austin Silva of Brookfield and five nephews.

There will be no funeral services. Memorial services will be held at a later date at which time burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Bath.
