EWING, NJ — Thomas D. Lucas, age 84, of Green Lane and formerly of Pejepscot, ME, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at the Greenwood House. He was born in Lewiston, ME, on Feb. 19, 1930, the son of Michael and Katarina Dzurus Lucas.

He attended Brunswick High School and also attended New England School of Music and received his master’s degree in music from Boston University in 1961. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War in Hawaii, playing in the band. On June 20, 1970, he married Frances Martin, whom he shared 44 years of marriage. He was a professor of Music at Trenton State University for 31 years.

Besides his wife Frances, he is survived by a sister Mary Allen of Portland, ME, who celebrated her 100th birthday in October 2014, nieces Joanne Falvo of Topsham, ME, June Ford and her husband Dale of Sarasota, FL, Paula Leone and her husband Michael of Lynn, MA, nephews Craig Lucas of Tarpon Springs, FL, Stephen Martin and his wife Mary of Lynn, MA, and James Martin of Somerville, MA, and many great nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his brothers Michael, Joseph and John, and a niece Kay Carnes.

A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 15 at 9 a.m. at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. A service will be announced in the spring with interment to follow with military honors in the Riverside Cemetery in Brunswick, ME.

Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
