BATH — Lillie Josephine Svik Morris, 91, died Nov. 5, surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home in Bath.
Born June 8, 1923, Morris was raised on a farm in Clarkson, Nebraska, before the family moved to Omaha during World War II. She married Burman “Bill” L. Morris on Nov. 11, 1952, and the couple settled in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, to raise their family.
When her children were young, she was known as “the Cookie Lady of Maiden Lane,” because of the cookies she baked for the neighborhood children. She also spent much of her time dancing the polka. She was active in various organizations at The Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth, including the Catholic Daughters.
Lillie was predeceased by her husband, Bill; her sisters, Bessie and Rose; and her brothers, Ed, Frank and Joe.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Morris Clark, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Bath, with whom she made her home for the past three years, their children Jocelyn Clark, of Bath, and Erin Zaremba and her husband, Steve, of Salem, New Hampshire.
She also is survived by her son, Carl Morris, his wife, Sally, of Clifton Park, New York, and their children Anthony Morris, of Albany, New York, and his wife, Rebecca. Also surviving is her daughter, Christina Pickett, and her husband, Ed, of Ballston Spa, New York, and their children Corey, Olivia, Hannah, Alyssa and Ryan.
Visiting hours were held Nov. 8 at Desmond Funeral Home in Brunswick, with services at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bath. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery in Bath.
In lieu of flowers, the Morris family requests that memorial donations be made to the Brunswick Respite Program at 41 Greenwood Road, Brunswick, ME 04011, or to her favorite radio program, The Memory Station, listener-supported WJTO-AM, P.O. Box 308, Bath, ME 04530.
