SACO — Conrad R. Hebert, 81, of Saco, died peacefully on Monday, Feb. 16, 2015 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
He was born on June 19, 1932 in Biddeford, the son of Philip Hebert and Leona (Boisvert) Hebert, and attended St. Louis High School in Biddeford.
On June 16, 1956, he married the love of his life, Yvette Simoneau, at St. Joseph’s Church, and resided in Biddeford. Conrad served in the U.S. Navy from 1951”“1955 on the USS Columbus (CA-74) and often spoke fondly of his experience serving our country and seeing the world.
Conrad was employed as a metal fabricator at Prescott Metal and Haley’s Metal in Biddeford and took great pride in his craft. The copper domes on the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and cemetery chapel were among his many accomplishments. He also once served as a volunteer firefighter at the Biddeford Fire Station.
In his younger years, Conrad enjoyed playing golf, spending time on the beach, hunting, and working around his home. In his later years, he enjoyed watching golf and football on television.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was passionate about spending time with his family. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
He is preceded in death by: his wife, Yvette (Simoneau) Hebert; mother, Leona (Boisvert) Hebert; father, Philip Hebert; brothers, Adrienne, Leo and Donald Hebert.
He is survived by: two daughters, Debra Tardiff and her husband Richard of York, and Linda Cote and her husband Daniel of Saco; one son, Brian Hebert and his partner Rene Bouffard of Alfred; three grandchildren, Matthew and Melissa Tardiff of York, and Olivia Cote of Saco; a sister, Rita Gilbert and her husband Maurice; a sister-in-law, Jackie Hebert; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass celebrating his life will be held on Monday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Parish Church on Main Street in Saco. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
A spring burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford.
