
She was born on March 10, 1927, in Orr’s Island, a daughter of Hugh Edgar and Maria Hawkes Johnson. She attended the old Orr’s Island school and Brunswick High School. She later worked as a waitress and lived in New York City for 20 years, moving back to Maine in the 1970s.
She has always remained close to her family, moving with her daughter to Boalsburg, PA, South Berwick, ME, Long Valley, NJ and most recently living in East Stroudsburg since 1989.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon Jones and her husband Jim of East Stroudsburg, PA; three brothers, Arthur Johnson of Sydney, ME, David Johnson of Orr’s Island, Wayne Johnson of Ocala, FL; three sisters, Lorna Stilphen of Orr’s Island, Marilyn Colby of Oxford, ME, Phyllis Gay of Windham, ME; four grandchildren, Richard Jones of Yiwu, China, Arleen McInarnay of Rock Camp, WV, Amy Gary of Saylorsburg, PA and Sarah Barrett of Bainbridge Island, WA; and six greatgrandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, boating, dominoes, cribbage, the Red Sox , Patriots and the annual family reunion.
