BRUNSWICK — The Maine Women’s Lacrosse Officials’ Association is offering new umpire classes for adults who want to umpire.
All prospective umpires are required to attend a series of classes that are taught by U.S. Lacrosse-trained umpires.
Classes will be held in four different locations for four consecutive weeks. New officials must attend a minimum of three classes to qualify for the 2015 season.
All newly trained umpires will receive instructions on how to register with U.S. Lacrosse.
The cost for the course is $45 and is nonrefundable. Cost covers class materials and a 2015 Lacrosse Rule Book. MWLOA dues for new umpires is $20 and is payable at the last class. All umpires must also be members of U.S. Lacrosse before umpiring a game, and the annual membership dues are $45.
Classes will be held at Thornton Academy on March 2, 9, 16 and 23 (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.), Brunswick High School on March 2, 9, 16, 23 (6-8 p.m.), Falmouth High School March 5, 12, 19, 26 (6-8 p.m.) and Thomas College in Waterville (TBA).
