NORTON, Mass. — Four members of the Wheaton College women’s swimming and diving team were named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference list.
Seniors Kelsey White of Bath and Abby Washington of Brunswick, along with juniors Helen Grant and Sydney Gillis earned the honor.
Honorees must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2014 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season to achieve the NEWMAC nod.
White earned her third career selection, just the 13th student-athlete to receive the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honor in all three years of eligibility.
Washington and Grant picked up their second career honors, while Gillis earns her first career nod to the list. In total, the women’s swimming and diving program has accumulated 56 NEWMAC Academic All- Conference selections dating back to 1995-96.
Earlier this week, the Wheaton women’s swimming and diving program was named to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Fall 2014 Scholar All-America Team.
Wheaton wrapped up its 2014-15 campaign with a fifth place finish at the NEWMAC Championships last weekend, bettering its score from last season’s championship meet by 31 points.
