FITCHBURG, Mass. — The University of Southern Maine women’s outdoor track and field team continued its dominance in the Little East Conference by winning its 16th consecutive championship Saturday at the annual LEC and New England Alliance Championships Meet held at Fitchburg State University.
The Huskies took the team title by scoring 203 points. USM scored in every individual event and won the only relay it ran. Keene State College was runner-up with 124 points followed by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in third with 111.
Inthe4x100relay,thequartet of Nicole Kirk, former Mt. Ararat standout Liz O’Neal, Deonna DaSilva and Peyton Dostie set a school record for the second straight week, winning the event in 48.73.
In addition to the LEC title, the Huskies won their second straight, and 14th since 2000, New England Alliance title. The Huskies scored 145 points to outdistance Westfield State University and Bridgewater State University, which tied for second with 108.50 points, and Worcester State University with 103 points.
USM will compete this upcoming Friday and Saturday in the New England Division III Championships.
