BATH — Sharon Drake Real Estate opened its Cal Ripken Major League Baseball season by defeating Smith-Tobey, 16-11 and 19-9.

In the first game, Aaron Landel led the Sharon Drake offensive attack with three triples, with Dylan Melvin adding two singles and a double, and Gavin Phillips three singles. Brenton Cahill and Brogan Shaw chipped in two singles apiece, with Nathaniel Jewett, Ethan Reno, Kyle Fredericks and Jacob Mowry adding a single each.

Cahill was impressive on the mound, striking out five and allowing no runs in two innings of work. Shaw and Melvin pitched the remaining four innings, adding five strikeouts.

For Smith-Tobey, Dominic Dickenson, Jansen Morrison and Connor McNish had two singles each, with Wade Bradford tripling for the lone extra-base hit. Bradford, Morrison and Robin Hale-Krull were on the mound and combined on five strikeouts.

In the second meeting, Shaw tripled and doubled twice in the Sharon Drake victory. Boden Gould also doubled, plus singled three more times for a four-hit game. Landel tripled and singled twice, with Cahill and Gabe Aucoin each doubling and singling twice. Mowry and Reno both had two singles to round out the multi-hit attack. Jewett, Melvin and Fredericks each chipped in a single.

Aucoin and Shaw pitched two innings each combining on nine strikeouts. Cahill and Melvin pitched an inning each, striking out three.

Bradford was the hit leader for Smith-Tobey with two doubles and a single. Ty Knowlton doubled and singled twice, Dickenson doubled twice and Hale-Krull singled.

Bradford and Hale-Krull took the mound for Smith-Tobey and combined on four strikeouts.
