THE MAINE SENIOR GAMES held its 2015 “Celebration of Athletes” at the Fireside Inn in Portland on Friday. The program included recognizing those athletes going to the National Senior Games in Minnesota this July. It also honored the Martin’s Point Medallion Award that honors individuals who inspire and motivate others to strive for their best personal health.One male and female athlete was honored as the best athlete in 2014 as well as the outstanding volunteer. The inaugural inductees into the Maine Senior Games Hall of Fame were also honored.There were three local athletes honored.Joel Stinson from Harpswell was named the best male athlete in 2014 for his earning medals in several events. Arden and Jerry LeVasseur from Brunswick were inducted into the Maine Senior Games Hall of Fame for their many years of participating in local and national Senior games and accumulating many medals. The Maine Senior Games is about health and fitness after 50. The main program is fitness through sport.
