“Vacationland: Summer in Maine (for the Rest of Us)” is a new exhibit of nearly 50 photograph-based images by 22 artists at VoxPhotographs. The show, including “Fat Boy Patron (Brunswick)” by Audra Medunitza Welton, “provides a counter-balance to the ‘come-hither’ scenic calendar pictures and tourist brochures,” according to gallery director Heather Frederick. Appropriately, “Vacationland” is on display for most of the summer, to Aug. 20. Vox is near the University of Southern Maine, at 334 Forest Ave., Portland.
