The First Tee of Maine, in collaboration with the Women’s Maine State Golf Association and the Southern Maine Women’s Golf Association, will hold a Girls Golf Fair from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. The free event will take place, rain or shine, at the short-game practice area adjacent to Riverside South Golf Course. Instruction will be provide by local professionals, current college players and other seasoned golfers. Girls of all ages and abilities are encouraged to attend. Central Maine Community College and the City of Auburn Recreation & Special Events Advisory Board are sponsoring a summer education series about sports tourism. The second session will be at 6 p.m. July 8 and will feature Rob Cappola, the strategic director for Maine Sports Commissions. The events are free and are held in CMCC’s Kirk Hall.

The University of Maine softball program will host clinics June 30, at the Wainwright Complex in South Portland. A session for ages 9-12 will meet from 9 a.m. to noon, and one for ages 13-18 runs from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. The fee is $60. Players will learn the same hitting, pitching and fielding skills taught to the UMaine players. The University of Maine at Fort Kent will host a 7-on-7 soccer tournament on July 18, starting at 10 a.m. The co-ed tournament is for players 16 and over. The cost is $2 per person.
