PORTLAND — Thomas “T.L.” Ouellette, 69, of Portland, died peacefully June 26 at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by friends and family.

He was born Aug. 24, 1945, the son of William and Gwendolyn (Lake) Ouellette, and attended Portland schools.

Ouellette served for eight years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, stationed in Hawaii. He spent the remainder of his life in Maine. He was known for his magnetic personality, and he was always ready to open his kitchen to friends or talk with them by phone, day or night. He also loved playing cards.

Ouellette was predeceased by his parents and by his brother-in-law, William Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela (Dobson), and by his children: June and her husband, Scott; Christina; Milton III; Theresa; Bettina and her husband, David; and Kevin Sr. and his wife, Tammy. He also is survived by 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and his siblings, Darlene Smith and Frances Kenyon and her husband, Mickel.

Friends and family are invited to visitation Thursday, July 2, at 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service with military honors at 1 p.m., at A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. There will be a gathering following the service at 34 Arcadia St., Portland.
