BOWDOIN — A Bowdoin man was lucky to escape injury after his vehicle hit a utility pole and rolled over early Tuesday morning after he allegedly fell asleep at the wheel.

The crash was reported at the intersection of Main Street and Augusta Road at 12:13 a.m. Chief Deputy Brett Strout of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department said Jason Knight, 56, of Litchfield, was driving a 2009 Honda Accord.

Knight apparentely fell asleep and the car struck a utility pole before rolling rolled over. Other than a scrape, he sustained no injuries and wasn’t transported to a hospital, according to the sheriff ’s department.
