BOWDOINHAM — The Baseball Performance Academy Eagles 15-and-under team played an exhibition game recently against an All-star team from Rhode Island at Cox Field.
It was a great night for baseball and there was a large crowd that saw the Eagles walk-off with a 5-4 win in the 11th inning.
The game was played well by both teams with excitement from start to finish. The Eagles employed smallball, as four players executed sacrifice bunts. The successful bunts led to three of the Eagles’ five runs, including the game-winning tally.
In the 11th, Garrett Moody reached on a Rhode Island error. Kyle Brennan moved him up a base with a bunt, and Nick Merrill sent the home fans away happy with a game-winning drive to the left-center field gap.
Merrill and Liam Huston each had three hits for the Eagles, while Moody, Brennan and Kaileb Hawkes picked up two base-knocks apiece. Ryan Mello, Sam Alexander and Cam Grant had one hit each.
On the mound, Ryan Glass, Grant, Moody, Merrill and Hawkes combined on 10 hits, nine strikeouts and three walks.
