CAPE ELIZABETH (AP) — Police hope an autopsy will confirm whether a 39-year-old Maine man died as a result from falling off a second-story balcony at his home.

John Knight was found dead at his Cape Elizabeth home on July 25. Police Capt. Brent Sinclair tells the Sun Journal the autopsy report is expected to be released in three to four weeks. He says the blunt force trauma to his head was consistent with a fall.

Sinclair says the fall appears to be an accident, though he is not certain. He says the deck railing that gave way showed evidence of rot.

Relatives last contacted Knight that Saturday morning. His wife attempted to reach him in the afternoon. When she could not, Sinclair says she asked a relative to check the home.
