SOUTH BERWICK — Maine-Betty J. Wade, 85, of 46 York Woods Road died Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at The Wentworth Douglas Hospital, Dover, New Hampshire. She was born in Gardiner, Maine, the daughter of Marion (James) and Edward Gulowsen on February 24, 1930. She attended the Randolph Schools and Gardiner High School.

Betty married Richard S. Wade in the Highland Avenue Methodist Church in Gardiner, Maine on September 15, 1951. She was a loyal and loving wife and worked briefly at South Gardiner Textile, Watts Fluid Plant in Kittery, Maine and Data General in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She and her husband bought a cottage on Kezar Lake in Center Lovell, Maine in 1992. They spent the next 17 years enjoying swimming, fishing, boating, and the surrounding area during May through October. They also enjoyed living in a mobile home park in Bradenton, Florida and traveling throughout Florida, to Biloxi, Mississippi, New Orleans, Louisiana (Madi Gras), and Norman, Oklahoma from January to April for 18 years starting in 1992. Richard and Betty would never use Interstate 95 going south or coming back home to Brunswick, Maine. They would visit their daughter in New Jersey, go to Atlantic City and play the slot machines, travel through the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and ride the ferry boats; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Savannah and Brunswick, Georgia and then to Florida.

Richard S. Wade, predeceased Betty. She is survived by her three children, David B. Wade of South Berwick, Maine; Donna L. Deutsch of North Plainfield, New Jersey; and Nancy E. Clark of South Berwick, Maine; six grandchildren; Benjamin and Casey Wade, Samuel and Jennifer Deutsch, Joshua and Abner Clark; three greatgrandchildren, Dylan, Noah, and Riley Clark and a sister Elaine of Gardiner, Maine.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and always enjoyed spending time with her family.

A graveside service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Brooks Memorial Cemetery in Eliot, ME.
