HARPSWELL — Feb. 23, 1935 – Aug. 2, 2015. The family of Tina Koppenhaver, daughter Kate of Harpswell, ME. and son Busta (Leroy Jr.) of Moosehead Junction TWP. and Harpswell, would like to inform all those who knew or were acquainted with our mom of her passing.

God Bless, Tina’s death, due to pancreatic cancer, was brief and a peaceful departure from this world with her most precious at her side. Tina was born in Brunswick, Maine on Feb. 23, 1935 to Anita (Lachance) and Romeo Brillant.

Tina met her husband-tobe in Hamburg, NY while on the race circuit during his younger days of training Thoroughbred race horses. Three months later, Leroy proposed to Tina and they married in Batavia, NY on October 28, 1953. Together they traveled the states while in the profession of training sulky horses.

In 1955, they returned to Brunswick where they resided until they built their home in Harpswell, ME.

We kids were very fortunate to have a mother that spent her life teaching us to respect and accept all mankind. Tina was generous with her talents, making mittens, hats and quilts for those less fortunate. Always there to make baked goods, jams, jellies for charity events and those in need. Always putting everyone first with tons of love and smiles to go with it. She had wings.

Tina was a loyal friend to the Merriconeage Grange for 55 years.

Her very special and beloved husband, Leroy Herbert Koppenhaver passed away on December 16, 2010.

She is survived by all of her six siblings. Sisters, Joan (Brillant) Campbell and her husband, Blane of Topsham, ME. Rita (Brillant) Coulombe and her husband Chanel of Topsham, ME. Nancy (Brillant) Burns of Bedford, Mass. Julie (Brillant) Smith and her husband Gary of Murphy, TX.

Brothers, Ronald Brillant and his wife Lucille of Augusta and Daniel Brillant and his wife Nancy of Servern, MD.

Tina held a special spot in her heart for each and all of the many, many,widespread nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. She loves you all.

Tina had a great fondness in her heart for her husband’s brother, Clair Koppenhaver Jr., and his wife Bernice (Erdman) Koppenhaver of Gratz, PA. and two sisters, Dorothy (Koppenhaver) Weist, of Mechanicsburg, PA. and Joan (Koppenhaver) Curtis, of Harrisburg, PA.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jeff Maher and Chans Hospice Care for their wonderful support.

At mom’s request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral services. Tina and Leroy will be buried together at the Kellogg Cemetery in Harpswell, ME.; date to be determined.
