SPARTA, VA — Richard H. Green (Commander, United States Navy, Ret.), 68, of Sparta, Virginia, passed from this earth to be with His Lord on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015.
Dick had a distinguished career in the Navy as a flight officer. After retiring from the Navy, he had a second career of 20 years with McQ Inc. in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Beth (Martin) Green; two children, Peter Green of Charleston, Illinois and Rebekah Douglas (Dan) of Valparaiso, Indiana; a sister, Debby Boultinghouse of Corpus Christi, Texas and three grandchildren, Lauren, Kate and Jack Douglas.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. in Salem Baptist Church, Sparta VA.
