PORTLAND — Isabella Capozzi made two saves in net and Libby Pomerleau scored two secondhalf goals as Thornton Academy opened the season with a 4-0 victory over Deering in an SMAA field hockey game at Memorial Stadium Wednesday.
Bella Robinson opened the scoring for the Trojans (1-0) 1:17 into the game on an assist from Taylor Ouellette. Emma Dutremble made it 2-0 midway through the opening period.
Grace Pickering added an assist on Pomerleau’s second goal, which came 1:27 after the first.
KENNEBUNK 4, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1
KENNEBUNK — Lindsey Gregoire scored a hat trick and Britney Gregoire added another goal as host Kennebunk topped Gray-New Gloucester 4-1 in an WMC field hockey season opener at Kennebunk High School Thursday.
