BATH — Rae Elizabeth Compton, 88, passed away peacefully on Sept. 13, 2015, at home. Rae was born on March 12, 1927, in Hagerstown, Maryland, daughter of Joseph and Elva Johnson.

She loved to be surrounded by her family and enjoyed reading, bird watching, and music. On Aug. 24, 1946, in Victoria, Virginia, she married Rev. H.G. Compton. They pastored Nazarene churches in New York, Maryland and several in Virginia. Rae was the perfect pastor’s wife. She loved her family and her church family. Rae and her husband were blessed with three children, one daughter and two sons. She worked outside the home for many years at Atlantic Research and IBM.

Rae is survived by her daughter, Karen Davis of Quakertown, PA, son, Barry Compton and his wife Darlene of Bath, ME, son, Kevin Compton and his wife Linda of Peyton, CO. Rae is also survived by nine grandchildren and TONS of greatgrandchildren.

Rae was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. H.G. Compton, her parents Joseph and Elva Johnson, sister, Juliet A. Johnson Hallowell, brothers Timothy and Joseph Johnson, and son-inlaw Jack Davis.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath. A celebration of her life will be held at the Bath Church of the Nazarene on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bath Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 855, Bath, ME 04530.
