SANFORD — The Center for Grieving Children is looking for volunteer facilitators for its peer support groups at the Sanford service site.

The Sanford volunteer facilitator training begins on Jan. 26 and continues through Feb. 6. Facilitators make a weekly commitment to working with children, teens and their adult family members. All facilitators must complete a background check and go through an intense 35-hour training before being placed in a support group. Facilitators are currently needed the center’s bereavement peer support groups, which meet in Sanford on Wednesday evenings.

The center will offer a free peer support group for bereaved parents starting Feb. 12 in Sanford. Trained volunteer facilitators will lead the group at the North Parish Congregational United Church of Christ, 893 Main St. The group is open to all parents grieving the death of their child regardless of the child’s age or cause of death.
