BRUNSWICK
Brunswick police were led to a burglary suspect Saturday after they were tipped off by someone claiming they’d been offered the chance to buy a generator.
The first burglary was reported at 7:39 a.m. Police had a complaint of a generator stolen from a residence on Woodward Point Road.
Brunswick Police Cmdr. Mark Waltz said officers ended up locating the generator, hidden on a nearby dirt road, by following tracks in the snow. Waltz said there were also two theft complaints from motor vehicles on Pineledge Landing and Chase Lane. Items taken ranged from the generator to a makeup bag.
Police made contact with someone who had been offered the chance to purchase the generator who put police in contact with the man later charged with the thefts.
Anthony Smen, 30, of Brunswick was charged with Class C burglary, two charges of Class D burglary of a motor vehicle, two charges of Class E theft and one Class D theft.
