From the Journal Tribune: “Young School students participated in mock Winter Olympics Wednesday morning, applying the good citizenship and fair sportsmanship that they had learned during the past week. The celebration kicked off with a parade of counties. Each classroom in the school represented a different country.”

50 years ago

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “American Cyanamid Co. officials here say that National Labor Relations Board has rejected a complaint that the company discriminated against a union officer and refused to bargain in good faith. Albert J. Hoban, NLRB regional director, was reported as telling the company ‘there is insufficient evidence of violation’ and he would not issue a complaint, as requested by Local 515 Sheet Metal Workers Association, AFL-CIO. The union and company have been unable to reach agreement on a contract replacing the one that expired last March 1.”

100 years ago

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “The grand mobilization of Maine Council Royal and Select Masters will take place at Masonic hall, Biddeford, Friday of next week, the 25th day of the month. This will be the annual big meeting of the year for work and a class of 40 to 50 candidates is expected and a gathering of 400 to 500 members of the cryptic rite. This is always one of the biggest Masonic events of the year in York County and this section of Maine.”
