WACO, Texas (AP) — Frank Mason III scored 19 points and Landen Lucas had the tiebreaking layup as No. 2 Kansas won its eighth straight game, moving closer to a 12th consecutive Big 12 title with a 66-60 victory at No. 19 Baylor on Tuesday night.

The Jayhawks (24-4, 12- 3) trailed by as many as eight points after halftime before a 9- 0 run to take the lead. After the game was tied for the eighth time, at 55- all, Lucas had a putback with 3:03 left to put them ahead to stay.

Perry Ellis added 15 points for Kansas, which has a two-game lead over No. 14 West Virginia in the Big 12 standings with three league games remaining. Devonte Graham had 11 points and Lucas had five points and 10 rebounds.

Al Freeman led Baylor (20-8, 9-6) with 17 points, including four 3-pointers. Taurean Prince had 12 points.

No. 6 Michigan St. 81, Ohio State 62

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Michigan State’s Bryn Forbes hit six 3-pointers in the second half and finished with 27 points. He finished 7 of 10 from 3-point range.

The Spartans (23-5, 10-5 Big Ten) led 36-31 at halftime but Forbes then scored 20 points and Matt Costello added 12 of his 16.

Denzel Valentine added 17 points and eight assists as the Spartans won for the seventh time in eight games.

Michigan State made 14 of 22 3-point attempts.

Marc Loving had 19 points and JaQuan Lyle added 16 for Ohio State (18-11, 10-6), who had a four-game winning streak stopped.

Ohio State was without sophomore starting forward Jae’Sean Tate because of a left shoulder injury that will keep him out the rest of the season. He will undergo surgery on Friday.

No. 16 Kentucky 78, Alabama 53

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Jamal Murray scored 23 points and Tyler Ulis added 19 points and 10 assists for Kentucky.

Senior Alex Poythress returned after a five-game absence because of a right knee injury to come off the bench and score 14 points, helping the Wildcats (21-7, 11-4 Southeastern Conference) bounce back from Saturday’s overtime loss at Texas A&M.

Isaiah Briscoe scored 10 points and Marcus Lee grabbed 12 rebounds for the Wildcats, who limited the Crimson Tide (16-11, 7-8) to 35 percent shooting and handed them a second straight loss. Kentucky outscored Alabama 40-22 inside, out-rebounded the Crimson Tide 41-29 and made 22 of 28 free throws.

Retin Obasohan scored 29 points for the Crimson Tide.
