AUGUSTA ( AP) — An Augusta man has been sentenced to serve one year behind bars for committing multiple burglaries, including one at the West Gardiner home of a Maine state trooper.
The Kennebec Journal reports that 29- year- old Dustin Woodworth was sentenced at the Capital Judicial Center after he pleaded guilty in January to multiple counts of burglary, theft, criminal mischief and drug possession.
Woodworth was additionally ordered to pay $14,280 in restitution to six local property owners. Trooper Tim Black, who had his garage broken into by Woodworth in May 2015, will receive just over $1,000.
Prosecutors say Woodworth committed the breakins as a means to support his opiate addiction. He was caught after the stolen items were posted for sale online and later traced back to him.
