BRUNSWICK — Gladys Totten passed away on Monday, March 28 at her home at Sunnybrook Village in Brunswick Maine. She was 97.

Born on January 30, 1919 to Frank and Stella Eastman, she was educated in the Brunswick schools and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1937. She lived and worked in Brunswick all of her life. She worked for the school department and later as an invoice audit clerk at the BNAS Exchange.

She was an active member of the Brunswick United Methodist church from early childhood until her later years. A member of the Dirigo Grange for several years, she loved to dance and enjoyed the dinners and card parties. Gladys loved to play bridge and taught classes with her husband. Saturday Bridge at People Plus started as a result of those bridge classes and she was a fixture at People Plus for many years ready to shuffle the cards and have a game.

Her faithful volunteering at Parkview Hospital earned her an Outstanding Volunteer recognition in 1985. Gladys and Ozzie traveled to Canada, Europe, Chicago and often to Florida during “mud season”.

She loved to knit, read, go out with friends and sisters for lunch, and spend summers at their cottage on the ocean. Most of all she loved her family and having them over for meals or just for a visit.
