BATH — James A. Chute, age 93, died Thursday March 31, 2016 at his residence in Hill House Assisted Living, Bath.

He was born in Matthiewin, MA February 22, 1923 a son of James L. and Eunnis Niles Chute. He was a WWII retired US Navy Veteran. He married Claire Rochford in Rhode Island in 1952. Mrs. Chute died March 4, 2015.

Through his 20 years of naval service, Mr. Chute had been stationed in Japan, Hawaii, San Diego, and Brunswick. After his retirement, the couple traveled back from San Diego to settle in the Brunswick area in 1958. While here, he was employed with Brooks Feed and Farm, Goslin Furniture, and finally retiring from BNAS Recreational Services.

He was a member of the Sagadahoc Beagle Club and Sagadahoc Skeet Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and long-time goal judge for Bowdoin College Hockey.

He is predeceased by a brother, David Chute.

He is survived by his son, Jim Chute and his companion Coleen Rickard of Topsham; a granddaughter, Zoe Chute of Topsham; a sister, Rusty Chute of Brunswick; two nephews, Matthew Chute of Tampa, FL, Mark Chute of Stratford, VT; a niece Jaye Chute of Gardiner, ME.
