Born in Raymond, ME on September 13, 1981, Tris is survived by his life partner, Ashley Pestino and their two sons, Aydin and Cylis of West Bath, ME. His mother Pat Bressette-Long and husband, Paul Viney of Freeport, ME. His father Martin Friedman and Lois O’Connor of Raymond, ME. And his sister Isadora Friedman and Chad Fyfe of Farmingdale, ME.
Tris attended Freeport schools and was a 2000 graduate of Freeport High. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 2004. Tris received an Associates in Applied Science Degree from SMCC in 2007. He went on to work as an HVAC Technician.
In recent years, Tris was busy working to restore an older home he shared with his family. A “fixer upper,” he was renovating it with the help of family and friends. Tris believed in living simply. He was most content sharing time with his family, tending their gardens, bee hives and brood of hens. He loved tromping through the woods with his boys and fishing in the ponds nearby. A voracious reader, Tristan loved books. Second only to his home and the woods beyond his backyard, he loved a library and the time he spent there with his family.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
