SANFORD — Hope R. Letourneau, 90, a lifelong resident of Sanford, passed away at York Hospital on April 19, 2016.

She was born in Sanford on April 13, 1926, a daughter of the late William and Rose (Valley) Knox. She attended Sanford schools. She retired in 1988 after 20 years of service as a matron at a local school.

A lifelong communicant of St. T..hér.ès………e.. Parish community, she was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella and a 50-year member of L’Union St. Jean Baptist.

She was preceded in death by: her first husband, Raymond Bernier, in 1995; her second husband, Noel Letourneau, in 2014; and her sons Robert Bernier in 1974 and Donald Bernier in 2007.

She is survived by: six children, Richard Bernier and his wife Vickie of Tucson, Arizona, Raymond Bernier Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona, Michael Bernier and his wife Doris of Sanford, Mark Bernier and his wife Lisa of Sanford, Linda Chesley and her husband Frank of Sanford, and Donna Jubinville and her husband Ken of Tucson, Arizona; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Sharon Cardoza and Pat Bernier; three stepchildren; and a former daughter-in-law, Marguerite “Maggie” Bernier of Tucson, Arizona.

Visitation will be 10-10:45 a.m. Saturday at Lafrance- Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.

Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.
