Kelsea Anair tripled, singled four times and drove in three runs as the Richmond High School softball team held on for a 13-9 East-West Conference win over Buckfield on Saturday.

Richmond, 2-0 and scheduled to visit Valley on Wednesday at 4 p.m., used a nine-run third inning for an 11-0 lead.

The Bucks (4-2) hung around, as Ashley Campbell and Brianna Damon each had three hits.

Meranda Martin picked up the mound win, striking out nine and walking four. Martin doubled, singled three times and drove in two runs at the plate, while Sydney Tilton had three hits and picked up two RBIs. Camryn Hurley also had two RBIs.

On Friday at Brewer, the visiting Eagles scored the first run in the fifth inning and went on to a big KVAC win.

Mt. Ararat (3-2) has won three straight games and hosts Skowhegan today at 4:15 p.m.

Alana Weaver was solid on the mound, keeping the Witches off-balance in striking out seven and permitting just two hits. She retired the final 12 batters of the game.

Zoe Stilphen singled three times for the Eagles, while Kayleigh Temple singled twice. In the seventh, Katelyn Cox doubled in a pair of runs, and Kate Guerin followed with an RBI single. Both Guerin and Weaver had two hits.

Meg Davis and Jordan Goodrich each had a single to lead the Witches. Davis stuck out seven and allowed six hits over six innings.

MORSE 7

BELFAST 3

Hope Faulkingham hit a three-run home run to lift Morse past Belfast (2-3) in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference play on Friday.

Morse used a four-run second to take the lead, and added a pair of runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth.

Marissa Parks tossed a three-hitter for the win. She struck out six and walked five. Micailah Albertson singled twice, while Olivia Potter added a single.

Vanessa Grotton had a solo home run for Belfast.

Morse hosts Maine Central Institute today at 4 p.m.

BRUNSWICK 6

BANGOR 14

At Bangor in KVAC play on Friday, Sarah Bragg scattered six hits and two walks while striking out 12 to lead Bangor by Brunswick, which fell to 0-5 and hosts Messalonskee today at 4 p.m.

Jenna Bishop and Page Cadorette each recorded a double and single to lead Bangor, with Bishop driving in four runs and Cadorette plating three. Bragg aided her own cause with two singles and three RBIs, and Lexi Cunningham started Bangor’s five-run third when she laced a hard single to right.

Brunswick opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning. Allie Eck singled, stole second and third, and scored on a double by Emily Girardin. Alyssa Dunton added an RBI grounder.

The lead held up through two innings as pitcher Shea Sullivan shut Bangor down.

Brunswick drew to 5-4 in the fourth. Shelby Plourde, Sullivan and Ketty Stinson each singled, and a Bangor throwing error allowed two more Dragon runs to score.

Sullivan, Plourde and Eck each had two hits for Brunswick.

The host Yachtsmen scored three runs in the first inning en route to a Western Maine Conference victory on Friday.

Julia Treadwell ripped a two-run home run in the opening frame, and was solid on the mound, striking out 12 as Falmouth improved to 3-1.

Liberty Ladd added an RBI single in the first and scored Falmouth’s final run in the third.

Morgan Karnes doubled for Freeport, which hosts Kennebunk today at 4 p.m.
