Now through May 31, Nonesuch Books & Cards in South Portland will collect donations of peanut butter for area food pantries. Receive a 20 percent discount on any item, exclusive of magazines and newspapers, with a peanut butter donation. Call 799-2659 for more information.

Land trust hosts

plant and bake sale

The South Portland Land Trust will hold its annual plant and bake sale, along with the Community Garden Collective, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, May 21.

The event will be held at the American Legion Hall, 413 Broadway, and includes an extensive variety of annuals, perennials, vegetable seedlings and herbs, many donated from local gardens. Home-baked goods and coffee will also be available.

Volunteers are still needed to help out on sale day, as well as for sale day preparation. Email Helen Slocum at [email protected] if you wish to help, including baking something.

Cape land trust celebrates

World Fish Migration Day

The Cape Elizabeth Land Trust will celebrate World Fish Migration Day from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. Saturday, May 21. The event will feature a demonstration of the land trust’s alewife monitoring project and an informational reception at the land trust office.
