The Buxton-Hollis Historical Society welcomes spring with a Victorian white social 1-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, at Quillcote, 20 Salmon Falls Road, Hollis.

Quillcote was the summer home of famed children’s author Kate Douglas Wiggin.

The social includes the tradition of May pole dancing featuring the “Movers amd Shakers” competition dance team of All That Dance Studio of West  Buxton. Other highlights will be floral crowns, old-fashioned lawn games, and refreshments. The event will be held rain or shine and donations will be accepted.

Those attending are asked to heed parking suggestions.

The Buxton-Hollis History Center, 100 Main St., Bar Mills, is open for the season from 4-9 p.m. on Thursdays and 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays. The N.C. Watson one-room school museum on Groveville Road in Buxton Center is open from 1-4 p.m. on the second Saturday monthly to October.

‘Inanna, Sisters in Rhythm’

Maine musicians “Inanna, Sisters in Rhythm” will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at Saco River Theatre, 29 Salmon Falls Road, Bar Mills.
“Inanna’s music comprises traditional world songs and rhythms from Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and other indigenous cultures, and brings forth an ancient sacred sound that
feeds the soul and lightens the heart,” the theater’s website says.
