BRUNSWICK — The Mister Bagel Braves slipped by the G.M. Wild Construction Pirates, 3-2, in Brunswick Cal Ripken baseball action recently.
It was all about the pitching for both clubs with Pirates Matt Duhaine and Tyler Patterson combining for nine strikeouts, six walks and four hits. Braves hurlers Evan Kilfoil and Sam Masse teamed up for 10 punch-outs, four walks and six hits.
The Braves scored on a passed ball in the second inning after Joey Vallierre walked and stole second and third. The Pirates countered in the third on singles by Luke Patterson, a double by Tyler Patterson and the first of two singles by Thomas Harvey.
But, the Braves reclaimed the lead in the fourth on a single by Max Hamilton, a free pass to Dolan Pols and three stolen bases.
The Pirates drew to within a run in the fifth on a double by Matt Orlando and singles by Harvey and Connor Manson.
