SACO — Donald “Joe” Colucci, 55, of Saco, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after a brief illness.

Joe was born in Portland on Feb. 19, 1961, the son of Anthony and Frances Anne Blair Colucci.

He attended South Portland schools and graduated from South Portland High School in 1979. While at South Portland, he was active in sports, participating in track, baseball and basketball. He was an avid Red Sox fan, and loved his Dallas Cowboys with his son, Michael. In Michael’s words, he taught him to have a hard-working spirit and to be optimistic.

After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army and later in the Army Reserves.

Returning to Maine, he was the heart of the Public Works Department for the City of South Portland for over 35 years. His mark will forever be left on the city, and he will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Colucci.

He is survived by: his wife, Ruth; a son, Michael Granger; and a daughter, Louisa Colucci, all of Saco; his father, Anthony Colucci; a brother, Peter Colucci of San Francisco; a sister; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
