Affordable home
opportunity
Twenty-five years ago Freeport Housing Trust acquired five units at Griffins Woods Condominium when they were sold at auction. These units were made available to income-eligible, first-time homebuyers at favorable terms with restrictions on resale. One of these units is available for sale to a qualified individual. The unit will be made affordable to the next purchaser through a direct subsidy provided by Freeport Housing Trust.
Although the current market value of the unit is $150,000, $65,000 of the purchase price will be deferred by the Housing Trust. This will leave an effective price of only $85,000 to be financed by the purchaser. Buying a home through this program will keep total housing costs, including mortgage payment, taxes, insurance and condo fee under $1,000 per month. The special program is available to households with an annual household income of $49,920 or less.
For more information or an application contact Jim Hatch, Freeport Housing Trust, 865-1652.
