Perhaps the biggest Bonny Eagle news to roll out of the spring season belongs to the girls track contingent, coached by Andrea Johnson. The Lady Scots claimed third at Southwesterns and fourth at States, propelled largely by zippy senior Elisabeth Redwood and a cadre of up-and-coming underclassmen, including Ami Beaumier and Kayla Raymond.

Redwood won the 100, the 200 and the 400 at Southwesterns – besting Cheverus’s Emily Turner in the first two events and Massabesic’s Moriah Biener in the third – and then finished second to Turner in all three at States. Clearly, the two had one of this year’s great rivalries on the track; it’s unfortunate, in that sense, that Redwood has now graduated.

Beaumier picked up the 3200 win at Southwesterns, and Raymond won the 1600 at States – the school’s lone title-winner this time around.

The boys track outfit, Chris Strout’s group, finished 11th at Southwesterns and 21st at States.

Chad Strout’s softballers battled to 6-10 in the regular season to slip into the bracketing ranked 11th. They faced off with No. 6 Noble in the prelims however, and fell 6-1.

Ricky Hession’s baseballers, meanwhile, went 11-5 through the regular season to earn the tournament seven-seed. Sprinkled amongst those 11 wins was at least one doozy: The Scots were the first team to knock off Portland, midway through the season.

In the playoffs, however, Bonny Eagle found themselves upset by No. 10 Marshwood in the prelims. Final score: a shocking 11-1.

Judy Martin’s girls lacrosse team finished the regular season at 5-7, good enough to just squeak into the tournament, ranked eighth. Alas, their quarterfinals draw was mighty Marshwood, the one-seed, who walloped the Lady Scots 15-1.

“We were in all of our games,” Martin said. “Three of our losses were by only one goal. Our two highest-scoring seniors were Megan McIntosh and Desiree Wright, and on defense, Autumn Brady and Marissa Jeffords kept us in most games.”

Interestingly, the Lady Scots actually outscored their opponents by 13 goals.

Andrew Slefinger’s boys laxers went 3-9 through the regular season to miss the postseason by just one slot, finshing eighth.

Boys tennis went 3-9 in regular-season play as well, placing them 12th, a couple slots back from the tournament. Girls tennis fared somewhat better, finishing 5-7 in the regular season to slide into the bracketing ranked 11th. They faced No. 6 Portland in the prelims, however, and fell 4-1.
