SACO — Barbara R. Couch, 92, formerly of Wildwood Drive, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016, at the Monarch Center in Saco.

She was born May 28, 1924, in Torquay, Devon, England, and attended local schools.

She served for the British forces during World War II in Scotland, in communications. On Sept. 17, 1945, her soon-to-be husband Roy flew from Italy back home to marry her.

In February 1952, Barbara and her husband immigrated to the United States aboard the RMS New Foundland, arriving in Portland. Once settled in the States, they lived in Manchester and Bedford, New Hampshire, before settling in Saco in 1972.

Once in Saco, Barbara became a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. As a member, she was active in Meals on Wheels, craft fairs, the woman’s guild and the altar guild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Couch, in 2012.

She is survived by: a daughter, Mrs. Lesley Ann Griswold and her husband Peter of Quincy, Massachusetts; a son, Alan John Couch and his wife Sheryl of Candia, New Hampshire; seven grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Anne, Melissa, Christopher, Valerie and Shawn; and two great-grandchildren, Finnian and Curran.

Friends and relatives may call at Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Monday, July 11. A funeral Mass will follow at noon Monday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 403 Main St., Saco. Father David Robinson will officiate. A reception at the church will follow the Mass.
