BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College’s Kim Kahnweiler has been nominated for the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year award by the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
The NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership. The award has been given annually since 1991.
The 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced on Oct. 16 in Indianapolis. Kahnweiler joins recent Bowdoin field hockey graduates Michaela Calnan and Elena Crosley as NESCAC nominees for the prestigious honor.
Kahnweiler has been a steady presence on the Polar Bear field hockey team’s defensive unit, while excelling in the classroom and in the community. A cum laude graduate with a degree in economics, she was a three-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree, a four-time member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-Academic Squad and a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America At-Large Second Team selection in 2016.
