BIDDEFORD — A local man has been indicted on a felony charge of arson in connection with an April fire that occurred in downtown Biddeford.
Johnathan Nadeau, 18, was indicted at York County Superior Court on July 6. He was arrested on April 11 for allegedly starting a dumpster fire behind the Paquin & Carroll Insurance building, 260 Main St.
Nadeau, an employee of the Saco McDonald’s, started the fire at the business with another man identified as Jason Eldred, 21, according to court documents.
Arson is designated as a Class A crime, punishable by up to 30 years in jail and as much as $50,000 in fines.
Deputy Police Chief JoAnne Fisk said she did not know if either Nadeau or Eldred had a motive for starting the fire.
Nadeau is scheduled to appear in court for a dispositional conference on Aug. 4.
