BIDDEFORD — The University of New England will host a Wednesday conference on both pain and pain relief, and the effects of the nation’s widespread opioid crisis.
At the day-long Pain Summit, educators, clinicians and researchers from across the nation will come together to discuss chronic pain and addiction – health conditions faced by millions of Americans each year,
Drs. Sean Mackey of Stanford University, Linda Porter of the National Institutes of Health and Daniel Carr of Tufts University will discuss opioid abuse and addiction and the biology of chronic pain.
U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine, will discuss federal legislative efforts surrounding pain and pain management.
The summit will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the university’s Leonard Hall and Center for the Sciences.
