ARUNDEL — Mary M. Sprague, 86, a lifelong resident of Limerick Road, passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, after a brief illness.

Mary was born Oct. 11, 1929, on her family property in Arundel, from which she only moved away for a very brief time to live with her daughter in Virginia for the past 11 months.

A graduate of Kennebunk High School, she worked in attorneys’ offices as a legal secretary, including the law office of Louis Spill, before stopping to raise her family.

As her family grew, Mary began working in food service with Kennebunk schools, eventually becoming head of the lunch program at Park Street School, then at the Kennebunk High School cafeteria before her retirement after 37 years.

A homebody, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter and great-grandchildren, and baking.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sprague Sr., in 2000.

She is survived by: her children, Robert Sprague Jr. of Lyman and Susan Rosenbaum and her husband Al of Front Royal, Virginia; a brother, Andrew Lux Jr. of Kennebunk; a sister, Julie Emerson of Arundel; a granddaughter, Heather H. Larson of Alexandria, Virginia; and three great-grandchildren.

In keeping with Mary’s wishes, there will be no services.

Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. To share a memory or leave a message of condolence, please visit Mary’s Book of Memories Page at bibberfuneral.com.
